BEEN BAKING

. . . and eating

When family is in town, I'm all in. It was a crazy, busy, fun, birthday-filled couple of weeks and I was in heaven. I LOVE when family visits, especially my favorite college kiddos. I made them take walks with me, grocery shop . . . I showed them how fucking exciting it is to be over 30. And as to not freak them out that I turned super crazy boring, we also took them to the mountains to ski, boutique shopping, we lunched and dined, roamed the city like tourists, cooked, drank (made them take many tequila shots, kidding, KIDDING mom and dad). I packed a few client visits in also, because let's be honest, you can only stand to hang out with someone 15 years older than you for so long. So like a good faux mom and dad, we let the youngins meet up with friends in Boulder while we worked. Unfortunately, the blog saw little attention. Sad. So sad, because it's my nightly ritual after work to post wildly thrilling decor inspiration (or at least mildly exciting). I learned a lot of mom moves while the kids were here, one of my very favorites was "if you do this, I'll do that". So, if you keep checking the blog, I'll post new inspiration photos and mockups, host an AWESOME lighting giveaway from one of my favorite small businesses, and feature a tour of the new digs! 

Recipe below for the most delish rolls Jack and I made that scream "add egg, cheese and bacon stat" for an egg sandwich that is the shiz. And recipe for strawberry galette here (also easy). Happy Monday!

French Bread Rolls
1 1/2 tablespoons course sea salt
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 cups lukewarm water

Preheat oven to 450
Mix yeast, water and salt in a large bowl (no need to wait for yeast to completely dissolve). Add flour, use hands to combine ingredients. You don't need to knead the bread, just use hands or large spoon to mix ingredients so the flour is mixed in well. Cover bowl, let dough rise in the bowl for a few hours, bake immediately, or put in refrigerator (I put them in the fridge overnight, in my head it makes them taste better. I have no explanation for that reasoning). Make a ball whatever size you like (depends on if you want smaller dinner rolls, medium-sized sandwich rolls, or one big french bread baguette). For sandwich rolls, press them down just a bit so they're not perfectly round. Bake for 30-40 minutes (high altitude 20 - 25 minutes).
