-small changes make for the perfect place to do some summer entertaining!-
We were blessed with a super sweet concrete piece of $%!# when we bought this house. So, we were faced with the typical homeowner conundrum; do we blast the concrete because a brick patio would be a billion times nicer, OR leave it alone because we'll end up putting more money into it than we'll get out of it when we sell?? Since selling may come sooner than anticipated, we decided to leave it. But there wasn't a chance in hell I was going to leave it alone, regardless if we do move sooner than later, I need a place outside to put my feet up and drink! So, I researched stain and came across outdoor acid stain for concrete. I went to a commercial paint store to pick up the stain, Home Depot to get the sealant, and sprayed that sucker until it was a nice shade of dark gray (total cost for products and tools was $125). The stain brought out all of the concrete's imperfections which gave it some character, and the sealer gave it a nice smooth, slightly glossy finish. Add simple terra cotta plant pots, cushions from Etsy and a garden patio umbrella, this otherwise plain jane patio was dressed up and ready to entertain without breakin' the bank!
