- FARMER'S MARKET INSPIRED -
Of the top 5 things I love about summer, top of the list has to be the return of farmer's markets. Luckily enough, we live a few blocks from one. It's a given, every Sunday we get up, have coffee, breakfast, then grab our bikes and head to the market. We plan Sunday dinners around whatever we find there. I gotta say, I was not looking forward to riding my bike there today. It was 100 flippin' degrees by 11a. Went anyway, and thankfully stumbled upon a stand selling watermelon water. Naturally, the next thought I had was to grab a fresh watermelon and add vodka. This is everyone's natural thought progression, yes? Picked up some cherries and fresh mint, and a new summer cocktail was added to the drink repertoire. Also, picked up fresh spinach, mozzarella, tomatoes and made homemade dough for pizza night. Sunday dinner menu complete.
Two Servings ::
2 cups fresh watermelon
1/4 fresh mint
1 squeezed lemon
1/2 cup fresh cherries
(add 1 or 2 shots vodka per serving/16 oz glass)
Pour over ice, garnish with mint leaves & lemon wedge, add fun straw (because, let's face it, everything tastes better with a fun straw)
